Crispy Fried Chicken with Creamy Mashed Potatoes

Ingredients:
For the Fried Chicken:
1 lb of chicken thighs or drumsticks, skin-on and bone-in
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 tsp paprika
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp onion powder
1/2 tsp dried thyme
1/2 tbsp salt
1/4 tbsp black pepper
1 cup  milk
Vegetable oil for frying
For the Mashed Potatoes:
4 large russet potatoes, peeled and diced
1/2 cup milk (add more if needed)
4 tsp unsalted butter
2 garlic cloves, minced
Salt and pepper, to taste
Fresh chives for garnish (optional)
